Apple announced its iOS 13 at WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) keynote presentation. It’s the new version of its mobile OS, which will be coming to iPhone, iPad and iPod soon. It will be better in performance than previous versions, said Apple’s CTO Craig Federighi.
Several performance increases were highlighted during the unveiling. 30% increase in speed when unlocking your phone via Face ID. Updates will be 60% smaller and App downloads will be 50% smaller, App launching speed will be faster compared to the previous versions. Safari, Mail and Notes will all be updated with new features along with Dark mode.
iOS 13 release dates and events
- June 3 : iOS 13 beta 1 and first look at WWDC 2019
- July : iOS 13 public beta release date
- September : iOS 13 Golden Master (final dev beta)
- Mid-September : iOS 13 with new 2019 iPhones
iOS 13 beta 1 to the final version of the releases, and it all enrolled to the users in the form of the developer beta, which is out there now.
iOS 13 Device compatibility
- iOS 13 requires iPhone 6S or later, iPad Air 2 or later, the new iPad mini 4 and iPhone SE.
- It won’t be supported to several devices: iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and mini 3.

Dark Mode
iOS 13 Dark Mode is the change everyone is excited about. It’s a long-awaited feature which allow you to enable dark backgrounds. Dark mode is not new on Android phones.

Apple showed how it works across iOS 13 and throughout some apps like Messages, Photos, Mail. It’ll help you to save you battery life, as OLEDs work by lighting up pixels. Dark parts of display consume less energy.

The Apple default keyboard now supports swipe typing.The feature is not new for Android and it’s widely used among Android Users.

Sleep Mode
Mark Gurman says Apple will include a new System Wide “Sleep Mode” in iOS 13 that comes under the Bedtime feature in the Clock app. The new Sleep Mode will integrate with future Apple Watches and will add extra functionality when enabled from the Control Center—it will dim the screen, mute notifications, and enable Do Not Disturb.
Sign in with Apple
Apple introduces Apple Sign in to apps and services without relying in on Social Logins. Which is great for privacy and security. The new service works with both FaceID and TouchID, and has a two-factor authentication system.

If the app prompts with an email verification, Apple will create a random email that forwards to your actual email, keeping your real data private. It will operate across all Apple’s eco-system (iOS to the web).
Portrait Mode and Camera
The Photos gallery is modified with a new tab designed to document the best photos by day, month and year and displays them in a new album view.. Apple calls it as “a diary of your life”, with You’ll also have more pinch controls to zoom in and out the photos.
The image-editing feature in Photos has a new design, and swipe-based controls. High-Key Mono lighting effect is added in Portrait camera mode, and new editing features let you change the intensity of the light, New Filters, and even a way to rotate video. The Photo library identifies duplicate images and helps you to remove them easily.
A Redesigned Reminders App

Redesigned Brand New Reminders App for iOS 13, Which has a toolbar to add in times, dates and attachments and it also integrate with the Messages app, allowing the two apps to communicate together. Which helps to show relevant reminders when you message the person.
Updated Maps
An update to the Maps will let you find roads, beaches, buildings, and other areas, as well as heightened detail easily.It will also helps you to find places you frequently travel to, and to create groups of frequent locations.

Apple has redesigned everything in iPad OS (Apple Tablet Specified OS) from iOS 13, with new features designed to take greater advantage of a large screen. You can now multi-task, use split-screen options, Desktop browser experience and a new Home screen.
